The 2010 Ojibwa Pinewood Derby is all new, with fun categories that will challenge all scouts.  Each category is open to all registered Tiger, Wolf, Bear, Webelos Scouts, and their siblings in the district.
The District Annual Pinewood Derby Race with a new twist.  In addition to the racing fun this year, Scouts will no longer race by rank but by class of car they created.  This will allow all scouts to be creative and design cars that are fun and cool, not just fast. The Scouts will have an opportunity to learn about different activity badges and accomplish a portion of them.
Why is the event no longer run by rank? In order to make a fun event for all participants and to make the District Pinewood Derby a new and different event from the past years, the Ojibwa Activities Committee decided to create new Car Classes.  This will allow scouts to create different types of derby cars instead of having to create the fastest “wedge shape” car.  There is still the traditional style race and a super modified race where you can bend the rules.  Plus scouts can participate in some strange and wacky races like the food and cartoon car races.
